On the great day of atonement, the High Priest slew the sacrifice and sprinkled with blood everything in
the tabernacle. The blood on the seat meant atonement for sin, and mercy and grace for the worshipper.
The blood over the broken law where the mercy seat rested meant that the demands of justice for a broken
law was being satisfied, and that God and sinner
had been reconciled, and the sinner could now come into
the presence of God in peace. So it is in the Cross of Jesus Christ. When He died on the cross, He opened
up a new and living way unto Christ. Hebrews 10:19 20.
