STRENGTH RENEWED
“They that wait upor the Lord shall renew their strength.” Isaiah 40:31
No one can eat enough at one meal to last for a week. No one can sleep enough at one time to last for
days. Both things must be done over and over as long as life lasts and, for best results, as regularly as
possible.
Likewise the spiritual life must be constantly renewed. If we question this- if we ask, “Why is it that we
need frequent and repeated cleansing, energizing, transforming?”- it only shows that we overlook the deep
essential facts of our human nature.
We are all hereditary sinners, as were our fathers before us. As noted in the Fall of man in Genesis, there
has been an evil twist in us from the beginning. The expulsion from the garden is a universal experience as
the innocence of childhood dissolves into the discords of adolesence and the powers of choice are
strongly exercised.
When we are very small, we may seem to be what we are sometimes called, “lambs” “angels.” But
within a few years our likeness to the ape and tiger is apparent to the most casual observers, including
ourselves.
The more deadly evils, less obvious, go on mining and sapping the foundations of life unchecked
except by our own will and choices. Moreover, unlike every other created thing, we can and do sin against
the light, consciously and deliberately bringing evil upon ourselves.
These facts we must grasp if we would understand why it is that, day after day, we must seek renewal
of our strength, moral and spiritual, in the presence of God.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father’s full giving had only begun.

Hunting Season?
A few laughs connected to the subject of hunting.
*Every day millions of innocent plants are killed by vegetarians. Eat venison.
*Small child prayer of thanks: “Dear Lord, thank you that Noah saved all the deer, turkeys, rabbits, squirrels.
*Hunter: man who can’t hear his wife two feet away but can hear a turkey two miles away.
*”My wife told me to go shopping so I went hunting.”
*Nontypical whitetail deer: one that never crosses a highway!
*Shopping with your husband is like hunting with the game warden.
