REVELATION 14

1. THE LAMB AND THE 144,000 (1-5)

1. The Lamb is Jesus Christ. The 144,000 are the Jews of Revelation 7:3-8. These Jews constitute a special group for a special work — something like an honor guard for a King.

2. This then picture Christ gathering these together to Himself before the Battle of Armageddon — note
“Firstfruits” –V-4.

3. These Jews are redeemed people — V-4.

4. They follow Christ wherever He goes — V-4.

2. THE PREACHING ANGEL (Vs 6-7)

1. So that everyone on the earth will be without excuse, God will have an angel preach the Gospel from
Heaven just before the Battle of Armageddon.

2. Note. “The hour of His judgment has come” -V-7.

3. THE END OF BABYLON (8)

1. Babylon in Scripture represents Gentileism, all things not Jewish. Babylon here represents Gentile world government. There has been four Gentile world-empires: Babylon, Medo-Persian, Grecian and Roman. The Beast’s world empire will be the fifth (actually a revival of the fourth). The Beast will be destroyed at the Battle of Armageddon, and with his destruction, Gentile world government will come to an end.

4. THE DOOM OF BEAST-WORSHIPPERS - (Vs 9-12)

1. The Beast worshippers have had their day. They have persecuted the saints, but now, at last, they meet
their doom. This will last forever and they have no rest day or night.

2. They have to drink of the wine of the wrath of God. They shall be “Tormented with fire and brimstone”. This will last forever and they will have no rest day or night.

5. THE BLESSED DEAD - (V-13)

1. The Christian should never weary in well-doing or faint under persecution because our works will follow Us after death. Contrast these who die in the Lord with the Beast-worshippers in the preceding verses.

6. A VISION OF THE BATTLE OF ARMAGEDDON (VS-14-20)

1. With these verses read also Revelation 19:11-16 and Joel 3:13

2. Grapes in a vinepress are used here to picture the wrath of God upon the wicked, ungodly, enemies of Christ at the close of this age. No one can read Vs 19-20 and ever deny that
God is capable of destroying his enemies and turning them into hell.

3. Try to visualize a pool of blood about two feet deep and 200 miles long – with 200 million soldiers killed here at one time in one place – the valley of Megiddo.

4. All of this is the word of God and it shall most certainly come to pass just as it is written here.
