1. MEASURING THE TEMPLE (Vs 1-2)
1. Measuring indicates judgment. We believe that these verses tell us that God will judge the temple of Jerusalem and the Jewish system of worship at this time.
2. Though the Gentiles will be allowed to take over the court which is outside the temple, God
will preserve the temple itself for the Jews.
2. GOD’S TWO WITNESSES (Vs-3-11)
1. God will have two witnesses during the first half (3 1/2 years) of the Great Tribulation period.
2. These two witnesses MAY be Enoch and Elijah, since they never died – Hebrews 9:27 and
Malachi 4:5-6. (I also believe it could be Moses instead of Enoch).
3. I do not know the significance of the two olive trees and candlesticks.
4. These two witnesses have power to destroy their enemies with fire from their mouths. They
also have power to bring plagues on the people.
5. Note the super-natural power in V-6.
6. Afler 3 1/2 years, at the middle of the Tribulation, the Beast will overcome the two witnesses
and kill them until they had FINISHED their work-V-7.
7. The dead bodies of these witnesses lie in the street, unburied, for 3 1/2 days.
8. The people will declare a holiday and rejoice over the death of these two men. They will send
presents to one another in celebration of their deaths.
9. After 3 1/2 days the bodies will rise and ascend into heaven Vs-11-12.
3. THE ASCENSION OF THE WITNESSES (Vs 12-14)
1. The rapture of the two witnesses – V-12
2. When these two witnesses ascended God shook this old earth and struck the fear of God into the hearts of the people who saw it.
3. The second woe is past and the third one is coming up.
4. SOUNDING THE SEVENTH TRUMPHET – (Vs 15-19).
1. When the trumphet sounded the Lord was in possession of the governments of the earth – the earth has become the land of the Kingdom of God and His Christ. And He shall reign forever and forever.” Unrighteous men will never again sit in a seat of authority upon the earth.
2. The age of grace is ended; God has now begun to move in HIS POWER – Vs-15-17
3. God has poured out his wrath upon the people of the earth and the time has come for Him to judge and reward His saints – V-18.
4. When the temple of God is opened in heaven we see the Ark of the testimony” – all judgment will be according to His testimony (Word). We shall not be judged by what man think, or by what we ourselves think, but by the Word of God. If the people, both saved and lost, onl;y realized that we would hold the Bible in higher esteem and seek to obey its teaching more readily.
